The UNIT garage R12 G/S Dakar Kit: A Return to the Origins. 
The new R12 G/S Dakar kit is a tribute to the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally. The history of Unit Garage is deeply linked to this race, in which founder Fabio Marcaccini participated in five editions in the 1980s. 
When BMW launched the R12 G/S, we immediately thought of reinterpreting the classic Dakar style in a modern key.
This bike is the perfect canvas for recreating an icon, in line with our philosophy of combining tradition and innovation. We are grateful to BMW for creating a motorcycle that allows us to continue a journey that began over 40 years ago. 
Simple and reversible assembly, every component of the kit is Plug & Play. 
You can transform your R12 G/S into an R12 G/S Dakar in a few hours, thanks to the manual and video tutorials included. 
No modifications to the original (OEM) components are required, and the entire process is completely reversible.
The new R12 G/S marks a return to the roots of the G/S line, and our Dakar kit brings the spirit of rallying back to life with today's comfort and performance.

Technical description and info:
Larger nylon tank with a capacity of approximately 25 litres (10 more than the original), giving you a range of over 450 km...more than enough to travel around the world!
The R12 G/S Dakar tank weighs 1.7 kg less than the original one. It comes painted, complete with graphics under transparent coating and ready for installation, or unpainted if you want to customise it.
The tank cap, fuel pump and activated carbon filter (canister) remain the original ones from your motorcycle. 
The reserve light will still work, you won't have to tamper with anything, the kit is completely reversible. 
All the brackets for fixing the new tank are supplied in the kit.
It is compatible with most tubular engine guards.
Designed to maintain an optimal ergonomic profile.
Perfect for all routes, both for African competitions and for tourist use.

NB:
- BMW engine guards, code 77141755649, are not compatible with our tank, code 5018. We recommend our engine guards, code 4305 or code 4330. 
-  The BMW additional headlight mounting brackets, code 77517914903, are not compatible with our tank, code 5018. We recommend our headlight brackets, code U078.
- the BMW logos shown in the photo are not included. You will receive a kit containing die-cut 3M double-sided adhesive tape so that you can reuse the logos from the original fuel tank. If you don't want to remove them from the original fuel tank, they can be purchased from official BMW dealerships (code 51147721223) or on our website (code U164).

2. Windshield Fenouil BMW R12 G/S
Code: 5007
It reproduces the look of the legendary R80 GS PD, adapted and revised for the R12 G/S.
Made of ABS, with a light white, matt black or red finish.
It replaces the originals windshield, offers good aerodynamic protection and comes with integrated mounting brackets and everything you need for installation.
The result is fantastic!

3. Handlebar BMW R12 G/S Comfort

For the BMW R12 G/S we wanted an "Old School" handlebar with a crosspiece and constant diameter (22mm). The bike becomes really aggressive with a more relaxed riding position. Made of steel with a matt black epoxy powder finish, it is supplied with everything needed for mounting on the original risers and controls. No changes to cables or brake lines are required.

The 5021 Comfort handlebar is higher than the original one and has a more comfortable bend. (see measurements in the sheet)
Compatible with heated grips.
Test report included (no ABE, no TUV).

NB: The handlebar is supplied with dedicated holes, ready for mounting on the original bike.

4. Handlebar bumper
Code: 1404
Classic off road bumper with unitgarage logo, easy to install. It protects your head from hitting the handlebar in case of a crash. Length 23,5cm, diameter 6cm.

5. Rear fender BMW R12 G/S
Code: 5020
Rear fender made of ABS, echoing the lines of the GS models of the 1980s. 
It is plug and play and interchangeable with the original body part under the seat.
It is supplied painted and complete with assembly instructions.
The result is fantastic!

6. Akrapovic-Unitgarage BMW R12 G/S high exhaust

The partnership between Unit garage and Akrapovic has led to the creation of an exhaust system that combines Akrapovič technology, Unit garage design and aesthetics inspired by the BMW Dakar motorcycles of the 1980s.
The silencer, handmade from high-quality titanium alloy with a carbon cover, weighs only 2.1 kg!
In addition to its lighter weight, the exhaust promises improved power and torque, accompanied by a deeper, sportier sound.
Compatibility with the bike's original mounts makes installation simple, with no need for modifications or remapping of the ECU.

Compatible with all our bag racks. 
The original passenger footrests can be retained.

The exhaust is homologated for road use in full compliance with EURO5+ regulations.  

NB: not compatible with the left frame for BMW bags

7. Engine protection plate in aluminium BMW R12 G/S
Code: 1407_+A21
Engine protection plate in anodized aluminum, protects the engine and the exhaust manifolds in off-road use.
Made of 3 mm Peraluman light alloy, it is cold formed and embossed with drain holes. Pronounced ribs for extra strength are combined with simplified mounting brackets for a strong and easy setup. It is larger than the original model and is shaped to protect the exhaust manifolds in the front and in the most exposed area of the catalytic converter. It is supplied with screws, anti-vibration rubbers and spacers and is ready for assembly.

8. Pair of engine protection bars BMW R12 G/S (Right + Left)

If you want to better protect your boxer, this is the bar you need. With double side protection tube it is very protective in the event of a fall and integrates perfectly with the frame of the BMW R12 G/S. Made of steel with 25 mm thick 2 mm tube treated with high resistance powder paints. Most maintenance work can be done without disassembling the bar. Very beautiful and elegant, they perfectly define the lines of the bike. Everything you need is provided, including assembly instructions.

NB: Compatible with aftermarket or OEM protections and cylinder head covers.

9. Pair of coils protection covers Unit garage for BMW R12 (all models)

We wanted to make your boxer even more iconic. The result is spectacular!
With a design that recalls the classic lines of old BMW boxer engines, but with a modern style, these covers are the perfect match for your BMW R12. The engine will completely change its appearance.

Milled from solid blocks using CNC machines, they are available in two finishes:
- Black anodised with milled fins and logo
- Sandblasted and anodised with milled fins and logo

10. Original Rallye BMW R12 G/S seat cover
Code: 5012
Made from high-quality synthetic leather. Interchangeable with the original, it is more comfortable thanks to the additional layer of foam attached to the inside.
It comes with a handle, and the seams are taped to prevent water from penetrating inside.
Proper installation requires some manual skill; if you are not confident, consult an upholsterer.
Installation system:
1. Remove the seat from the motorcycle.
2. Remove the original cover by removing the staples.
3. Install the new cover with new staples, centring it properly.

NB: This cover fits on the original Rallye seat.

11. Passenger grip BMW R12 G/S
Code: 5004
To refine the end of the seat, we designed a very minimal passenger handle. It provides an excellent handhold for the passenger, aids in securing luggage at the rear of the seat when travelling alone, and is effective for moving or supporting the bike in emergency off-road situations.
Made of highly resistant powder-coated stainless steel, it is very easy to assemble with the kit supplied.
If you don't want to lose your girlfriend... you need this accessory!

NB: the two small original brackets for attaching additional bands mounted under the rear mudguard must be removed, the handle is used for the same purpose.

It is compatible with all our bag frames.
